4L60E shifting question

I just bought a 95 t/a and it shifts fine under normal to 3/4 throttle. At WOT it bounces off the chip in 1st and 2nd(5800 rpm).I don't know about 3rd or 4th.Haven't had enough room to get above about 80.It pulls fine in all gears, just won't shift under WOT.Any ideas?I really hope it's something simple!Could the shift points in the CPU be set to high?I just bought it and don't have any way of checking the CPU until a friend can get time.

The band and/or clutches aren't holding at high RPM's. It's a common problem for stock 4L60E's. It's an early sign the transmission is on it's way out.

depends on what you consider early.... my tranny was doing that at 75,000 miles... and now it is "almost" on its last leg... at 169,000 miles... should be able to get 200k out of it though
