? for 4l60e rebuilder

I'm converting from an m6 to 4l60e, I have the new flexplate bolted in and a couple bolts snugged up on the trans. My concern is about the gap between the flexplate and the TC. It's a good 1/4" ! I've ruined front pumps on a T350 in the past because I pulled the TC out to far to get it to bolt up, but what about on a 4l60e? Does anyone know if closing that gap will pull the convertor out to far ? or is there supposed to be some type of a spacer or ring between the block and the flexplate ? I just have it bolted right up. thanks for any info!

I forgot to mention, it's in a '94Z

The clearance should be .090-.125" between the flex plate & torque converter, if more you will need to reduce it by using machined washers (3). All the washers should be identical in thickness.
