4l60e problem

have a 95 4l60e that the parking paw won't disengage. it will go into forward and reverse but won't move with the paw staying engaged. i pulled the pan down and thought it would be something that i would see right away, but no dice. there were no parts or pieces in the pan. i've never had one of these apart before so i'm not sure if i have to drop the valvebody or look somewhere else.
thanks

actually, after getting a light and looking at it closely. for lack of a better term, the bullet at the end of the actuating rod somehow went through the metal bracket that is supposed to keep that from happening. it went to the back of the case. now i just have to see what i have to do to get it back where it belongs. there doesn't seem to be enough room to shove it back through the bracket without dropping the bracket down a little. to do that it looks like i might have to drop the valve body. any suggestions?

Maybe call Performabuilt, they might give free advice on this.
