SMO Q

I was messing around and racing a corvette from a light, before the light turned green I was stalling up the converter (about 15 seconds) when it turned, I let off the brake and left the line, I looked in the rear view to watch the vet and saw a big cloud of white smoke, I limped home, looked under the car and noticed trans fluid all over the both sides of the pan and on the exhaust. Im guessing this came from the overflow hole on top of the transmission, and sprayed allover the floor pan and exhaust. my question is, can I reach this overflow hole with the transmission in the car? Id like to re-direct that fluid so I don't have a fire. I dont know why it over flowed as it has never done this before, and the temp never got over 180 acording to the gauge.
