4L60E...maybe...maybe not

1996 Z with a rebuilt 4L60E, with a TCI kit. Stock converter (re-man)

I was on the freeway and some young kid in a new Jag was messing around with me, so just for fun i punched it. I my car reved high but it seemed like it wasn't pulling hard at all... under normal driving, my car drives just fine. Goes through all the gears like nothing wrong, also seems fine flooring it from a dead stop. I have a freah tranny and new converter, is something going bad? it seems like when i stomped on it that my trans was missing hardcore, but it seems fine any other time... what gives? any ideas? and whats the advantage of a different size converter? thanks

Transmission might be slipping already. It can happen.

Do you have a tranny cooler? Maybe its getting too hot on the freeway.

With a stock converter I doubt it. WOT from street light to street light and no slipping but on the highway at cruising speeds you go WOT and the transmission feels like it is slipping?

Sounds like what my wife's vert is doing. 2nd gear is slipping and under normal driving you don't notice anything. Floor it on the highway and it will downshift to 2nd and slip, slip, slip. We've been nursing it for the better part of 6 months.

Mine slips at the top of 2nd gear if I mash it on the highway too. Then when i was racing at the track, it would not shift out of 2nd and bounced of the rev limiter. Im rebuilding my trans this winter. Thats probably your solution.
