4L60E and converter question

Tranny guys, I have installed a Vig 3200 in my 95Z. I pushed the converter all the way back as far as it will go. It actually had stopped at one point which I thought wasn’t back far enough so I rotated it some more and it went back another ¼ inch or so. Now with the trans mated to the block there is about a half inch gap between the converter and the flywheel. Do I need spacers or will the converter still drive the pump when I pull it back out to mate up? The reason I ask is because the last one I did I don’t recall having a gap. Maybe on the last one, I didn’t push it back as far. Anyway I wonder what’s up.
Thanks
Skip

Re: 4L60E and converter question

Quick answer ...yes you need to shim it up...take up no more than 1/8"max gap I like to cut it down to 1/16"...the less the gap the more hub/rotor support you have...Hope this helps ...Dave
