4l60e compatability question

I have a 96 Z and I am trying to buy a built trans from another board member. His car is a 95 and I need to know whether it will work in my car. I've been told that the 94 model will not work but I don't know about the 95 model. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Scott

Re: 4l60e compatability question

im pretty sure you can use a '95. The 94 has no PWM TCC. I think '95 was the first year for that in a f-body. You just need to change the 3-2 downshift solenoid to the one that is on your '96. They changed in '96 to a diff. resistance solenoid. The newer one is 22 ohms and the early one is 11 i believe. Newer one will also have a white connector vs. the early being gray. Its on the front of the v.b. on the manual valve side. You dont need to take the v.b's off, theres a clip that holds them in.

I don't know about the '95 transmission, but I can tell you about the ´94.
My car is a 96 Z28. I am using a built '94 transmission.
It works with no issues, but you have to get the P1860 TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit Electrical Hardware verification test deleted from your tune. You can do it with LT1 edit.
The TCC will engage and disengage according to the programmed parameters.
No codes will be set.
