4l60 rebuild guide
Re: 4l60 rebuild guide
Sorry, can't help with an instruction guide in taking one apart.
But I can tell you is you want to view and exploded 4l60e then go to your local drag stip...
Actually I don't know of any of those either, but if your interested in looking into what's involved check out these articles.

And hey if you try and don't succeed there are builders on here that can probably finish whatever hack job you do...
I know Frank @ CPT can get a box (or 3) full of a completely torn apart and half put together tranny parts and get it together in short order.

Re: 4l60 rebuild guide
Thanks! I have friend that graduate from wyotech, and rebuilt alot of these during school. He is going to do the upgrades for me. I was planning on paying all the parts the CPT or PRO built autos use in their race tranny's.
Re: 4l60 rebuild guide
Just make sure he reads that post above that is a sticky and has all those good ways to improve the tranny... And no offence you your friend, but just getting out of a tech school that covers everything, doesn't mean he will do well at building a tranny that can take and handle power.
Trust me I know, I am rather mechanically inclinded and have taken many classes, and worked in my dads shop when I was a kid. But trannys are not for everyone, that's why I went with Frank to build mine. I am more comfortable rebuilding a motor or troubleshooting/fixing a vehicles problem then I am messing with a tranny. Once you get inside you will see what I mean. Good luck!
