460LE hesitating/hitting limiter?

I went to the track last night and noticed that on the 1-2 shift the car would bounce of the limiter and backfire before shifting. I didn't really think anything about but on the forth run when I reached 5800-5900 rpm it just stoped pulling and stayed there for a second then shifted. Any body have any idea what might cause that

Your 2-4 band is smoked, which doesn't allow it to hold the rev. housing the way it's supposed to. The 2-4 band (and 3-4 clutches) are weak points in the factory 4L60E's. Fortunately, we've found ways to correct both of these problems when we rebuild them.

If you did a search, you'll find that this is a very common complaint before a rebuild.

exact same thing that happened to mine before i rebuilt it, had it rebuilt guy did a great job, unfortunately my shift point is too high in 3rd, previous owner had it set right on the rev limiter and when it bounces back it just keeps slippin the clutch, so now that ive got that fixed my newly rebuilt trans is working great, jerks sideways from 1st to 2nd and on the right roads itll chirp a little on wot 3rd shift now if it lives long and does that im happy :-p ... i just hope the rev limiter in 3rd deal didnt screw up anythihng in my new trans like it did the other =/

this is an indication that the engine torque is too much for the friction elements to control due to slippage.this indicate worn friction elements or reduced clamping force at the friction elements due to lo line pressure ,etc.if this is oil pressure related it is usually too late to correct it after a few hard runs.remove inspect and repair.www.ckperformance.com
