4 channel axel in a 3 channel car...

toasted the rear in my procharged 97SS my dad gave me a rear end out of a 2000SS. problem is the 2000SS is a 4 chan axel and the 97 is a 3 chan. is there anyway to make it work? and is there a differance in the axel shaft length (not the tubes, but the physical axels.) i know the reluctor rings are differant for the traction controll, but can i shut that off through the tune so its not even read at all?

As for the axle shaft length, I tried putting axles from a 2001 into my '93, and they were 3/16" shorter than mine. I think you would need the whole rear brake setup from the 2000 to make it work.
