4.10 just dont work .....kid need HELP!!

I have a 67 camaro with a 333 smallblock and a TH350 trans. The rear is a GM 10 bolt. Currently i have 4.10 gears installed. This is simply not working for me. In 3rd the engine is at 4500 RPM at 55mph. I watch my gass gauge just drop lol

I have to shift into 2 at around 10-15mph

what gears should i try. 3.23 3.55. 3.40

Plz help!

thxs

Not drag car, street use, hardly ever need to go on major highways. Most the time i am at 50-55mph

I think there is something else wrong with your setup. Perhaps your tranny is slipping, or your converter is too large/loose. With a guess of a 26" tire since you didnt specify, with the slippage of a non lockup converter you still shouldn't be but a hair over 3K rpm's @ 55MPH. I would start trouble shooting.

2800 RPM stall

17 wheels 245/45/17 tires (yes small)

what could be wrong. trans not slipping. Also have B&M shift kit.

Theres only so much you can do. 3500 isnt too bad, considering a smaller tire and what looks to be a fairly loose converter. A taller tire would help, although may not fit as far as looks go, or i would be looking for a better gear...3.55's or 3.73's would help drop the RPM's pretty well.

Re: 4.10 just dont work .....kid need HELP!!

Depending on exact gear choices anything in the 3.4-3.5 area will work fine for your RPM requirements. Hope that helps.

Richmonds are said to be louder...but stronger then others. I don't necessarily believe that to be true. Proper setup will be the key to any gear lasting long and being quiet. Good luck.

Re: 4.10 just dont work .....kid need HELP!!

I have a '67 camaro with a 4speed muncie(4th is a 1:1 just like the auto) and i cruise 60mph at 3200rpm and i have 4.11 gears also. I love em. I went from a 3.08 to the 4.11 and i'm happy. maybe think about and overdrive unit for your auto.
