4.10 and a 3200 stall - otherwise stock?

does this sound like a bad idea? I have a stock 2.73 A4 LT1 and was planning on adding these, maybe a computer tune. Is it too much? How will it feel? Thanks

I was running 12.82 @ 106 MPH with that combo. COMPLETELY internally stock '93 LT1 with exhaust manifolds, CAI, chip, and MSD, 4.10's, 3200 stall, and ET Streets. The car still had the stock suspension, and was full weight (3448#). Stock 92,000 mile injectors, t-body, rockers, etc.

Yea...I'd say it's a pretty good combination

Your rear tire height will play a major role in the street-ability. At the track that will be a "killer combination" with some DRs, or ET Streets.

I'm with 12scndz, I went 12.86 @ 104 with an edge 3000 stall and 3.73's with the only other mods being an SLP catback and SLP CAI. The converter was the best mod I've ever done on any of my cars. It made the car so much more fun to drive and it launched like a bat out of hell. I'd recomend a tune to get the shifts right though. You definitely wont regret it. I've you've never driven a car with a high stall converter before, your 5 mile test drive after gettin it together will turn into a 50 mile drive

Yes. Look for a Tru-Cool 4490. It's one of the largest you can fit in front of your condensor...11"x12"x3/4". It's a "stacked plate" cooler, which is FAR superior than the cheaper "tube and fin" coolers (heaters). I say this because we've actually seen trans fluid temps HIGHER coming out of a tube and fin cooler. Just as a referance, we sell the 4490 for $75.

You'll want a set of drag radials with that combo.

Hah.... cooler is a must... I have 3 coolers on my trans... stock a big B&M cooler and a huge cooler that Dave at Yank sent me. I think it's pretty sufficiently cooled.

If it's a daily driver, you may want 3.73s instead of 4.10s. I have a 3200 stall and 3.73's and I love it.

reading this brought me some joy as well,ive been debating the same setup as you.

within 2 months i plan on doing LE2 heads/cam package as well as all the supporting crap to go with it.

i beleive my trans is crapping out on me though,so after about a months worth of reading,it seems CPT is the way to go,plus after watching a video of there trans installed...i was sold,you guys have my buisness{sending a pm after i type this out}

mines a daily driver,just because its more fun to drive then my actual daily driver{lumina}

how much of an effect will the stall have? and also,im going to asume 3200 stall WONT be enough when i go to the LE2 head/cam package?

3200 stall is too small for an LE2. If you are not looking to spray the car look into Yank's PT series converter.

You'll also want 4.11's with an LE2.

the car has spray now,so it will see the spray after the h/c swap.

any good recomendations? sorry for the thread hijack,but this info could be benificial to the original poster.

btw,i had planned on 4.10s...im having trans issues right now,i pm'd frank with a coupla questions.

my basic question was,i want to get my trans issue taken care of,before i tear the motor down for the h/c and bolt ons,i kinda figured 3200 would be to small for le2 swap,so i was wondering,would the stall i need for the le2 setup,be tolerable on a basicaly stock motor for roughly a month or two?

my setup is as follows..most of this crap i have sitting in the bedroom waiting for install.

pacesetter coated longtubes and ory with slp loudmouth 1 exhaust
le2 heads,with gm847 cam and crane gold 1.6 rr's
4.10s in the stock 7.5 for now{saving for 12bolt}
mt et drags
and of course,all the minor supporting bolton's and tuning.

speed inc,or DID will be doing the tuning.

any idea what to expect 1/4 mile wise? on motor,and on spray,most i will spray is 150 until i get my shortblock built.

thanks in advance.

FWIW, I ran 4.10's behind my otherwise bone-stock LS1 (oh, except for the lid ... oooooooooh ) and brought the 1/4 mile time down from 13.43 to 13.02! Also, speed went up from ~105.80 to ~107.44 .

HOWEVER, even though the 60' times also benefitted (2.1's down to 1.9's) I still needed a stall!! So definitely, stall + 4.10's = killer package .

And as far as 3.73's vs. 4.10's?? ..... whatever ..... not much difference, so go with 4.10's.
