3rd gen 12 bolt in 4th gen?
3rd gen 12 bolt in 4th gen?
I can pick up a 3rd gen firebird for a pretty good price. It has no motor/tranny, but does have a 12 bolt in it. The rear is actually out of a 68 camaro and was custom fabbed up to fit in the fbody. I want to put it in a 97 Formula. I know the 3rd gen rear is 3" shorter than the 4th gen. I was considering running 1 1/2" spacers on each side to get the correct length. I've ran spacers before when I had 315's. I've got a few questions.
1. Since I have 4 channel abs (traction control), is their anyway to retain it?
2. How hard is it going to be to convert over my disc brakes (it has aluminum drums now)?
3. Right now it has 5.38 gears and a spool in it and I plan to switch to 3.73's and a posi, where is a good place for the parts?
4. Also, if I do lose my abs, can the abs inop light be programmed out?
