383, t56 swap issues

First real post here but maybe I can get some help.

I swapped out my 4 speed auto in my 96 SS impala and replaced it with a 97 Z28 T56, I used a Lt1 flywheel, LT4 clutch and pressure plate, and Lt1 hydralic system all new from Dal.

The transmission is rebuilt with mostly new parts but I did notice the clutch fork and some rub marks from the pressure plate when I installed it and now if the pedal is pushed to the floor I can hear the plate hitting the fork I was told I had a high pedal and to mity vac the air from the system which I did but I still have the same problem. If I dont push hard on the pedal it shifts smooth and feels great other than the can of marbles sould if the trans is in neutral with the pedal out but noise goes away when the pedal is pushed.

I hate to take the tranny out but looks like its a done deal, any ideas?

Thanks guys.

I had the "can of marbles sound" with the pedal out, ended up being the throwout bearing. Not sure if that's what's wrong with yours, but for your sake I hope it is something so cheap.

Nice work with the 6spd in the Impala by the way, that's something I always wanted to do.

My first suggestion is to make sure the clutch fork is fully pushed onto/under the t bolt. It can get under the spring on the fork but not be fully seated which causes it to slam into the pressure plate.
Also you can check to make sure that the T bolt is tightened fully. If it's not, it can travel forward and contact the pressure plate.

Thanks guys, I guess the easiest thing to do is check to see if the fork is fully seated. I mentioned the new LT4 parts because Im not sure why the throwout bearing would be making noise when its new. There was evidence of the fork hitting the PP (that was one of the old parts I did use). before installing but I cant see how it could be bent.

A question like this fits best on the "Drivetrain" forum..... I'll move it there for you.
