323 in a 94 v6!?!Will it help??

hey everyone,
Im looking into putting a new rear into my 94 3.4 litre camaro. My close friend and fellow camaro owner suggested a 323 since it is only a v6 and any higher would make it scream down the highway. Do you guys have any more suggestions for me? What do u think are the improvements i will get from it?(torque, etc.) I have the rear end picked out 323 with disk brakes and all the extras. Should i get something else? im shooting for fuel economy but yet the little bit more bang in the lower end. Thanks
