3.73 opinions

i have done a lil searching but i would like some more input! i am hearinf conflicting stories about gears. i have 3.23's now and i have been thinking about jumping up to 3.73's. and eventually a 3500 yank or similar.

my ? is will those gears help improve my times, and trap speed at the track?
some are telling me that they will do no good, just looking looking for more input from guys that have went from 3.23 to 3.73!
thanks

Re: 3.73 opinions

A gear swap will definitely improve your times- as long as you have the traction.

And BTW those people that are saying it won't do any good are probably the same ones that blabber about how doing a gear swap on a stock late model GT will drop it into the twelves.

Re: 3.73 opinions

In my opinion gears will only help if you have more traction than power in 1st gear with whatever tires you have.
I have kdw, 3.23s with m6(taller 1st) and whenever the temperature outside is below 40F, on the street, I loose traction as rpms start climbing. This thing only makes 323rwhp too.

3.73's improved my times out at the track and I thought they made my car a lot funner to drive on the street too.

Re: 3.73 opinions

I had 3.23's before and it cut .2 off my times, so for you it would probably be closer to cutting .3 off your times

Re: 3.73 opinions

I went from 3.23s to 3.73s and was very glad I did.
with the gears and a shift kit it was like a totally different car.
You will need some suspension mods with the gears, my car just spun all day till I put some suspension and tires on it.
