3.73 or 4.10

My buddy has just changed out an A4 and put in a M6, in his 2001 Firebird. He wants to change the rear end b/c it has a 2.73 in there now. Anyways, what do y'all think 3.73 or 4.10, because this is his daily driver I figured the 3.73 gears would give him plenty of go, without being quite so bad on gas. Anyways, just wanted some other opinions.

Re: 3.73 or 4.10

I have heard so many 10 bolts popping with 4.10's I went with 373's and love them

with a M6 I'd definatly go with 4.10's. The difference in gas mileage will be minimal if any.

Re: 3.73 or 4.10

I had 4.10s, and as we speak, I'm swapping back to 3.73s again. If your car is a drag car, then 4.10s may work for you, but I prefer 3.73s if the car is more "street" than "strip". For whatever reason, 3.73s just seem to work well with the shift points & cruise speeds. My fiancee's T/A has 4.10s, and they're fine for a bolt-on car, but if you have a power adder or enginework (heads, cam, etc.), then 3.73s are more reasonable. I loved the 4.10s when my LT1 Camaro was just bolt-ons, but since I've redone the valvetrain, heads, and fuel system, 4.10s are somewhat irritating. Traction problems are terrible as it is...and just FYI, no one can claim, "Your suspension just needs an upgrade", because the ONLY suspension parts I've yet to replace or add are some tubular a-arms...

BTW, both my fiancee's LS1 T/A and my LT1 Z28 are M6...
