3.73 in a 2 series carrier?
2-series carriers are for low numerical (high ratio) gear sets, ie: 2.56's --> 3.08's.
3-series carriers are for high numerical (low ratio) gear sets, ie: 3.23's --> 4.56's.
Due to the larger pinion gears of high ratios, the carrier is offset approx. ~1/4" to compensate. 3-series carriers allow the ring gear to be positioned ~1/4" closer to the pinion.
That's the only physical difference

im converting my formula over from a4-m6 and going from 2.73s to 4.10s which will make a world of difference on the street. should be a blast next week when shes all buttoned up!
Depends on the year of his T56.... If he installed a T56 from a 93, it might be the M28, that was coupled with a 2.73, or an M29 that was installed with 3.23's at the factory.
