3.42 rearend Vs. 2.37 rearend???
My 97 Formula has 2.73 gears stock. I can get a set of 3.42 gears for cheap from a 97 Trans Am. Is there anything I need to get to have the 3.42 gears install into my car? Or will they just pop in place?

I had 2.73 and to install 3.42 you need a carrier unless the 3.42 are for 2 series carrier which is unlikely. I got carrier and gears and it made install much easier. I love my 3.42 over the crappy 2.73. The 2.73 should be ILLEGAL!!
What was gm smoking when they put those in a muscle car. Car is 100% more fun with the 3.42,actually 3.73 might have been even nicer but the 3.42 are already too much for normal street tires and now since added 2800 vig traction is even harder to find. I need nittos now.
But you will love 3.42s for sure big improvement and I seemed to gain et at the track figure around 3 tenths.
