OK, I've got a question. Concerning my trans, when I'm on it I have to take my time w/ 2nd or else it grinds. When I'm driving normally, sometimes I have to pull it down a couple times in order to get it to go into 2nd. I have been told that it could be a cracked syncro, and to listen for ticking in 2nd. I have tried that and I do not hear anything.


Sometimes, I'll put it into 1st to get the syncro to line up and slow down in order to help it go into 2nd..........

Any ideas, I can't leave it up to the warranty because.......well......I killed that one when I put the headers in......What do you guys/gals think is going on here?

Sounds like the clutch teeth on the actual gear and/or the syncho teeth are worn. Or you possibly bent a shift rail.

How many KMs on the tranny? It could just be a really worn blocker ring. Which probably means the dog teeth are going to be worn too. Together they could easily describe the symptoms you're talking about.

Does it do this when you drive normally as well? Or just when you're hard on the throttle?

 

Any time. It kind of does it when it want to but It's common. The car itself had 23K miles on it. I believe the trans has never been touched. It's been doing this since I got it.

When I'm hard on it, I can't slam it right down into 2nd like a speed shift. It'll miss or grind. I have to wait a second. Then it'll go in.

EDIT: SOMETIMES!! It give me trouble going into first... SOMETIMES!
I'm also starting to think it's the shift rail...
