I know when I heard it I said the same thing. I was about to buy a "one size fits all" stall from ebay for dirt cheap. Someone from the board pointed that out to me, and I went to edges website and learned just how important it is for it to be built to your car.

I would pass on the B&M and TCI converters personally.

That's basically a rebent fin factory stall converter, very inefficient design.

Just do it right and get a nice quality converter. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500573 Javier97z28 was selling a vig in that thread. Might want to look into that if he still has it. I don't know if you would want a 3200 though if you drive it alot. I'm putting in a 3000 and i drive my car alot. PI told me it should be ok to daily drive.

I've never heard of them, and the other two series before the "driver" don't look they would offer much, if any, improvement over the stock converter. I would spend a little more and get a little more.

4 Names that are proven on this board. Edge, Fuddle, Yank, and Vigilante. Stick with one of them and you cant go wrong. This is one of those parts that is very important to select whats right for you. Its not a generic part.

how is a stall 'tailored' to your car. I talked to Edge and the dude asked me a ton of questions about my car and made me feel really good about getting me the right converter. But after hearing about Yank being better, I called them up. Expecting to get the Q&A I was prepared for anything. I even had my cam card on hand and had my car weighed for the best accuracy. Well he just asked me just some very ...very...basic and generalized questions and said it sounds like I could do the SS3200 or prob the SS3600. "If you want to mod some more....umm....Id do that one" I was like ok well I guess we can do that. He told me just to hop on the website and order it online. How is that custom to my app. I just got an off the shelf SS3600 that is the same as the next SS3600 that rolls off the shelf. Where does the 'tailored' to my car fit in? Did I catch the guy on a bad day and I got the shaft?

edit: someone mentioned buying a used vig from the used parts. will that even work for your app. Isn't it custom to their car and won't work for yours? and how do you know or is a vig 3200 just like any other vig 3200 same with an ss 3600 its the same as any other ss3600 out there.

thanks and sorry for such a long post

Great question, but its not one that I can answer in detail for you. 1jfuddle is John at Fuddle Racing. I would shoot him a PM and he can give you a much more detailed answer.

Picking the "right" stall for your application is like picking right "right" cam for your application. They know the math behind the part to fit it to your goals and cars. You can buy custom grinds, and off the shelf grinds. Roller, and Soild cams. Like cams there are many different variables to stalls from the strength of the clutches, the cover material, the overall size of your converted and of course the amount of stall. All these factors are taken into consideration to provide the customer with the "right" stall for them and there goals.

A used Vig is still better then a new B&M simply cause the quality is 1000xs better. The design and thought put into it is better, rather then an assembly line part. It may not be to the most optimal specs for your car, but then again it maybe close. You can buy a used can from Joe O, or Brett and it will be a quality piece, it may or may not be what you need to achieve your goal, but it is still high quality. If you know what you need to get what you want then you know what to look for whiether is be a used 3200 vig, or a new 4000 Yank.

As I said John will be able to answer this question better then I have attempted to. I look at it this way, they know there products, and they know racing. They know better then I do what I need and can give me a proper part to help me achive my goals.
