2001 SS 6-speed 3rd & 4th grind

1st and 2nd are fine, but when i shift into third and fourth it grinds.
I havent got into fifth and sixth yet so im not sure if they do or not.

anyone have any ideas of what the problem is?

Either:

A) a clutching issue, which is not allowing full/sufficient disengagement of the clutch to allow a smooth shift.

or

B) the synchros for 3rd & 4th are getting worn out, and not allowing smooth shifts.

First, try bleeding the clutch. It can be a bit of a pain, and there are a few different methods. Do a search for a "how-to". Also, read up a little bit on the "drill mod" .

THEN, if you still have shifting issues, it's inside the tranny. A rebuild "can" be a DIY job, or there are a couple reputable 6-speed builders around if necessary .
