2.73 LSD to a 3.73 rear

2.73 LSD to a 3.73 rear
I was told that since I have a 96Z A4 with a 2.73 LSD rear that since I have the carrier for the 2.73 LSD I can not just drop in 3.73's. I was told I would have to go to a posi or get a bunch or parts to stay with the LSD.
What would it take to get 3.73's in?

You have a 2 series carrier [3-series is for 3.23's and up] and need a 3 series for 3.73's
OR you can buy a set of gears that will fit the 2 series carrier.
You already have LSD, posi, etc just people call it different things

Just buy 3.73's for your current 2-series carrier
