I advise everyone to do this mod. It took me 2 minutes to take apart the console, cut the stopper off, and put it all back together. It makes driving a lot of fun Anybody want to second that?

were is the stopper what dose it look like and what dose it gain for your car? what do you mean by fun???

 

I did that long time ago and it does make a different. Alot more torque! But I don't know if it will hurt your trans

 

fun if you like to upshift your auto( well make it hold 1st as long as u want). of course if you have 3.23 gears you already have 1st on the selector. last time i even used 1st only on mine was sitting in traffic and put it in 1st and just was slowly rolling with the other cars till things picked up, the back in OD.

 

so it only works for 2.73's and how dose it stay in 1st as long as you want and how would you switch it into 2nd Im confused?

 

well on my selector its got 1,2,D,OD,N,R,P. if i put it on 1, it'll stay in 1st gear for as long as the selector is on 1. if i put it on 2, it'll shift between 1st and 2nd, whatever the tranny seems fit for whatever speed Im going, put it on D, it'll have 1st, 2nd and 3rd available and choose whatever it likes for the speed Im going. and OD, it'll have 1st,2nd,3rd,4th.

so you cant do it with my car then right?

 

you cannot select 1st gear right now, as it is, unless you want to cut the bumper stop that blocking 1st gear, do it like the 1st post says to remove it.

 

so your saying there is a stopper in there that is preventing my shifter from moving down lower on the dash underneath my 2nd gear so I can mannually move it below the 2nd gear "a blank number" by cutting the stoper wire witch wire is it what color and is it under the shifter?

 

whoa there, no cutting wires!

there's a black piece of plastic thats blocking 1st, thats what needs to get removed. and yeah its under the shifter console. if you have no need to put your car in 1st, maybe should just leave it as is.

 

lol ok the first guy said cut the stopper off so I thought it was a wire so take that off and I have 1st wow that cool thanks for your pacients it was a big help

 

This mod has been brought up many times in the past for A4 2.73 cars. Use the search feature. On the other hand, glad to hear you got everything working!

 

You are incorrect. Yours says 2 D OD N R

Drive is the same as third gear.

Why dont you put some info about your car in yoru sig like the gearing and that its an A4 and any mods that you have done. So when people like myself go to try to help you with different matters it makes it a whole lot easier!
