Question 1999 Camaro Skip Shift>? Help

Hi,

I just have bought my first car a 1999 Camaro SS, standard six-speed. However, I have a problem. Sometimes in first gear when im driving and about to switch into 2nd gear a little light comes on that says "Skip Shift". I try to switch into 2nd gear, but it doesnt let me. Im really confused, I have no owners manual aswell. So if someone could explain to me the skip shift deal, it would be great.

Thanks a lot!

Under easy driving conditions, the skip shift feature locks out 2nd and 3rd gear, and makes you shift into 4th. I guess it's to conserve gas. Under hard acceleration, the feature disables itself, or if you want to permanently disable it, there are cheap kits available to do the job. Lots of people disable it to lose the hassle.

Disconnect it from the side of the tranny.
Insert 2.2k Ohm resister into the connector.
No more skip shift.

Don't waste your money.
