I have a good auto trans out of a 1996 3.8L and plan to put it into a 1995 3.4L with a bad trans.

What do I need to do to make that swap work/

'95 and '96 use different 3-2 downshift solenoids with different resistances. If you swap them, you'll throw a code, and cause the trans to go into "limp mode". I've seen people simply swap the solenoids, but the actual valve is different. I've seen this mismatch cause WOT 3-2 downshift issues.

I think 94-95 trans can swap but to notice it should have pwm in the front pump frank can tell you for sure though.

 

1994 f-body 4l60e are not pwm

 

Correction, 94 and early 95 are non PWM.

 

I've never seen any 1995 4L60E that were non PWM.

I have one in my car. (car is 94 with a 95 trans in it) It is rebuilt by a Proformance, but never converted the pump. I also have a friend that has the orig in his 95 which was early production run and it is non PWM.
