1995 Z28 A4 Fluid Capacity
Hey all! It's been a few years since i've been on here Camaro's just out of storage and i'm getting it road ready for the summer.
Q1:
I'm replacing the transmission (One of Franks builds ) and a TC this week. How much ATF do i need for the whole system? (TC+Transmission). It's a shiny new yank 3000 9" if that matters much
Q2:
Is Synthetic ATF good/bad? I've heard talk of synthetic for transmissions allow more slip, any real truth to this? Should I just get the generic stuff?

With a 9'' converter, bone dry system 10-11 quarts. My Yank 3200SS installation guide specifically stated in red print "We do not recommend any type of synthetic fluid at all" They recommend a good brand Dextron III OR Dextron 6.

Ask the trans rebuilder what he recommends for the trans fluid. My builder recommended Red Line synthectic. Only the builder knows what parts he used and what fluid they are compatible with.

Re: 1995 Z28 A4 Fluid Capacity
Cars running great! I had a yank 2800 stall > 9.5" converter previously, this 9" 3200 yank feels fantastic. Overall it feels tighter than the previous converter.. i've finally gotten past the breakin phase and everything feels good.
For fluid capacity we overfilled by 1/2 a quart because we forgot to account for the smaller converter fluid volume For the record I suggested the right volume and the mechanic disagreed and put in a bit too much (now drained to the right level hehe)
One thing i've noticed is that I had a very very stubborn "stumble/shudder" at around 80km (50mph). This is the same speed converter lockup happens at. I was Religious with the Yank breakin period (highway speeds unlocking and locking the TQ clutch 50+ times) and i have to report that my stumble @ 80 is no longer an issue
