1993 Automatic - How to change the governor assembly?

I think my governor gear is worn, so I got a new assembly from gmparts direct.

I know you have to pop off the round cap on the drivers side of the tranny. question is, will the governor come out without having to drop the transmission? Is there enough room?

I had a auto in my 93. Take off the torque arm, and driveshaft. Remove the tranny mount and let it down using a tranny jack and piece of wood on the pan. It is a very tight fit but I have done it.
