Question 12 bolt Vs 9 inch

I was wondering who all is running in the 10s with a 12 bolt and what kind. Is a 9 inch rear really worth the money. Would a 12 bolt hold up the same as a 9 inch after time. Would I really have to worry about a 12 bolt breaking on me. I just want to know if a 12 bolt is a good investment over a 9 inch for alot of track use. Please share your input.

i have a 9inch but i got a good deal on it. you will loose more power through the 9inch than the 12 bolt but i have heard of people breaking 12 bolts but not many have i heard break the 9inch.

both are strong. Unlikely you will break either. Ive seen them both break, so neither are indestructable either, but i wouldnt worry too much about either.

9 inches are a touch stronger, get the nodular center section. They also eat a tad more HP.

12 bolts come with the nodular center, eat up tad less HP. ABS systems are readily available.

If you want abs, the 9 inch can be fabbed to accept a 4 series system, but not the 3 series (no traction control)

i thinking the same thing, and i think the only reason i will go 9" is casue the life of 9" over 12 bolt. I'm scared with my bad luck i will brake the 12 bolt, so i will spend the extra money and get the 9" for insurence reasons.

I don't think you'd break either until you dipped down into the 10s. A guy here runs a twin turbo LS1 to 10.6 at 134mph and uses a 12 bolt.

A fully optioned 12 bolt would be stronger then the cheapest 9" you can get. So it also depends how you build it. If you get a 12 bolt make sure you get the super strength posi (all Mosers have this, it is an option on Strange.) The 12 bolts can be good for 800hp. If you have 3 chnl abs and want the 9" there are ways to make it support ABS.
