I’m planning to order a Moser 12-Bolt for my 97 Z28 (LT4 396 stroker w/ A4), but haven’t decided which posi unit to go with, the Eaton or True-Track.
What are your thoughts, or recommendations on the posi for the 12-Bolt?

I've heard a lot of good things about the Eaton units, however, I believe it was the people at Moser that recommended I upgrade to the True-Track unit when I order the 12-Bolt. Also, I've heard you can't use synthetic gear lube with the Eatons??? I like using the synthetic gear lube.Originally Posted by Mikek340
Ive read more positives about the Eaton posi holding up for longer periods of time.
Is anyone running the True-Track in a 12-Bolt and how well do they perform? Also, how do they hold-up in track only usage? I believe most posi's are worn-out from street usage (turning under load).

I know your asking about a 12 bolt but I had a ford 9inch, and to be honest I have never heard of a tru-track until I bought it.....I found it to be a lot better, quiter, and more streetable then any other units out on the market. It worked perfectly, it was an "open posi" so to speak when you were driving regularly but as soon as you gave it gas it automatically locked up....there are no springs or friction plates involved to go bad! That the main reason why I bought it. Hope this helps!!

Thanks for your response and info on the True-Track. I'm sure the 9" True-Track unit has the same basic operation as the 12-Bolt unit.Originally Posted by HodgesZ28

I went with a 33 spline tru-trac diff in a Moser 12 bolt. It has run good this year, and, the torque bias around corners is great. I had a Zexel, and I was sold on the gear design performance. Broke the Zexel. Running Red-line Syn rear lubrication.
