12 bolt from a 88 vetet?

Hey guys, my buddies giving me a 12 bolt from his dads old 88 vette that burned when their barn went down.
What is the differences from this and our rear ends? Anyone have a clue what I can do with it to make it fit in my 96 Z?

Re: 12 bolt from a 88 vetet?

Vettes from the early 60's on up use independant rear suspension - so the rear end that you'd get from a Vette would not easily install in place of the "live" or solid rear axle in your F-body.

Normally, what's called a "12-bolt" is a solid rear axle, not IRS, and there are plenty of parts out there for swapping one into an F-body. I've never seen a kit for the Vette rear, but you never know...

An 88 Vette would use a Dana rear, not a 12 bolt. I think they are called Dana 44's. Plus as mentioned it's an independent rear, not a solid axle like ours. It could probably be made to work with enough $$$ but its not a simple bolt in swap thats for sure.
