1-2 shift problem 4l60e HELP!!
well i took my 1995 camro to the track and it wont come out of first gear unless i let off the gas before it shifts, then once i let out of the gas and hit it again it goes and to 3rd, then on the return lane it will have no 1st, but if i shut the car off and let it sit it will work fine until i hammer on it, this problem has been going on for 3 week and i cant find anything wrong in the trans i took it out 2 times for this problem and ever thing looks good. and pressures up good, also it will only actup at the track when i put my slicks on, but sometimes it shifts at the track and runs out good, but if i run the n20 it will never come out of 1st unless i let off,??
STALL WALL!!! You've got to have the computer retuned for the high stall converter (over 3200).
This is a common problem. If you try a search for "stall wall", you'll find your exact symptoms described over and over.
See...This is a "good thing"
It's probably not a transmission problem, just a tuning issue.

You can try whatever you'd like, but this is a classic case of "Stall Wall".
The comuter senses "stall" as "slip". When it sees that much slip, it puts the transmission in "fail safe", which is 3rd gear starts...Both solenoids are commanded "OFF". If the car sits, the coputer will clear itself, and it will work fine, until it sees that slip again.
If you don't feel anything slipping in the transmission, then it's the stall wall. You might want to try a different tune (tuner) before you pull the transmission again. I know PCMFORLESS knows how to fix the stall wall problem.

Very interesting thread. I took my car to the track Friday with a new engine, trans and 4500 converter and ran into the exact same problem. I was just about to pull my trans and send the converter back but now that I've read this I'lltry getting the pcm changed.
