Unhappy WOW! Close call to 'Running the Retaining Barrier' yesterday! Spool and Slick INFO:

Two things happend here that I NEVER expected.

1) Redtird left the line and immediately headed for the outside wall. A FAIRLY HARD right if you will. Stayed in it and saved it, completed high 11 second run.

WHY (I think): POOR MANS SPOOL! Passenger side tire in sumpin' slippery, both front tires off the ground about 6" for a bit. Driver side tire hooked and sent the car headed for a 'Cement Cruise'.
I'm pretty sure this is what happens now when both tires drive (spool) ALL the time.

2) Slick rotation. I NOW remember that it takes a few runs to get the slicks reacculmated to a different rotation. First two runs were a tenth off of RB's normal low 1.5X times. By the third run she was leavin' hard and straight, again!

ALSO... Bryan Herter solved my '94 no shift 1-2 problem, THANKS!
He is at PCMFORLESS.

i had a similar incident saturday night. had already put the car on the bumper and smashed a lot of stuff earlier in the night so i was very alert on the line at least. came up for a nitrous pass later in the night, dumped the transbrake on the bottle and the car jumped straight for the right wall. was in the throttle maybe half a second and ended up all the way off the concrete. turned out somebody a couple cars ahead of me left coolant on the line that nobody noticed

Good Save Kevin!

What's the reccomended cure for the problem though? SHock settings, air bag tuning? Bigger sway bar?

Arrow Thanx boyz...

Denny... I am gonna do some 'fixes', but I figure the ROOT cause was something the passenger side tire got into and spun. Being a spool now, the driver side tire kept driving, pivoting the car a bit on the spinning right tire. Just need to look at the line a bit better, before staging.

Next run the car left hard and true. I did take some air out of the right airbag but I don't really figure that was the problem, but...
needless to say, the airbag WILL remain at 17 psi from now on!
