worried about breaking something???????????/
i have a 94z and its puting around 325-350hp to the wheels im going to the track tomorrow and i just got some drag radials and it hooks hard now,,,im worried about maybe breaking something like the rear end or tranny,,,,,,,,,,,,car has 69k on it,,,,,should i be worried???????????????// thanks
Most of the time if you break something that's close to being broken, it will happen on the street. If you break something at the track then you'll know what needs to be beefed up.
I don't think you're producing enough power to break anything unless it's close to being broke already. If the ring and pinion have cracked teeth, they'll probably break. If a u-joint is worn out it will probably break. Rev it to 6000 and drop the clutch will probably break things too.

About every 400 passes I would break the rear end. Did it twice. Then just before it went a third time I installed a 12 bolt.
The first time I broke it on drag radials with an M6.
I also broke several clutches. Seven to be exact before switching to an automatic.
That said, I was racing every weekend, at two tracks and two classes at each track. I put a lot of runs on the equipment, plus I went a lot of rounds having run a track championship in 1999 with the M6.
I generally would not worry about too much about making a few passes atthe track every once in awhile with a well maintained car. It is launch shock that is the greatest risk but a slight pre-load at the start will minimize that risk.

I made over 100 passes with 327rwhp and over 50 with 400+rwhp though an M6 with drag radials and the stock 10-bolt. In that time I've wiped out 2 clutches. It all depends on how you launch the car. I leave at about 2000rpm and slip the clutch. The violent shock to the drive train is what breaks stuff not the amount of power you put through it. Well, maybe a little.

Like yourself my car gets lots of runs. Drag radials are not as stickey at ET Streets or Hoosiers. Nover say never but you should be ok.
well i went and didnt break anything except my speaker box shot to the rear of the car and ****ed something up the bass is all outta whack now,,,,,,,,,,,i ran a best of 13.079@106.13 i wanted 12's but i'll take a flat 13 i guess if i woul;d have pulled the box and maybe a bit cooler it was the first run of the night was still about 70 degrees..........next time maybe 12's
