will brakes clear a 15 inch rim?

Will the stock brakes on my car clear a 15 inch drag wheel, something like a 15x10? Or will I need to take them off and all that crap, I don't really wanna have to do that, so if they don't clear then I wont even bother taking the brakes off. Just wondering, thanks in advance for your input!

From what I've heard, you'll need to grind on the calipers a little.

Hmm...not too bad. I'll wait for some more replies or look around the internet alittle more before I buy some rims, thanks for the timely reply.

To clear stock brakes with no grinding your options are Bogarts. We can set you up with a set that will clear stock brakes.
If you are looking at the Weld ProStars or Draglites then you will have to grind the poop out of the rear calipers (ie remove the cooling fins) and then either grind the front calipers or run a 5/16" spacer on the front and run longer wheel studs.
You can run a 5/16" spacer on the rear but do not recommend this for drag racing b/c even with longer/upgraded studs the chances of breaking them are greater and that is not fun and could be harmful to yourself or others.

I borrowed a set of 15" centerlines(slicks and skinnies) and just throwed them on. I did not have to do nothing. He did tell me that his LS1 car brakes had to be ground on. There is a difference in the brakes I guess on the '98 and up. With your '96, you will probably be alright.

The requirements for fitting 15" Weld Pro-Star or Draglite wheels are covered in the FAQ stickied at the top of the Wheels and Tires forum topic page.
