Where should I shift?

This maybe a stupid question but Im trying to figure out the best shift point for my car. My peak HP is at 6200 but is just about the same from 5700 on. Peak torque is at 4700.

Are you better off shifting at, slightly before or right after peak power? With my auto last year I had the shift point 200 rpms past peak power.

Thanks.

Question

depends on your torque curve more than anything else. also, what transmission, rear gearing and do you have dyno output? can you give us a torque and hp plot from 2,000 rpm on up at 500-1,000 rpm increments?
thanks

try 300-400rpm past peak power. that is a good rule of thumb to start.
