What will the factory drive shaft take??

Getting ready to take my new combo to the track and I'm worried about my ol'factory driveshaft. Car is M6 and I plan on running DR's first few times out, but slicks are coming soon. Driveshaft has 81k on it, with plenty of dragstip useage. I replaced the rear u-joint with a good solid spicer when I installed the 12 bolt. I'd like to dump the clutch around 5k or so and hit the spray a few feet out long as its hooking. Should I upgrade to an aftermarket one or can I get by with what I got?? Still running the factory t/a also with BMR LCA's. Oh yea, plan on a 150 shot

The bottom end of a camaro is usually good for tapping all of 400rwhp. Much more than that and especially with Nos i would upgrade to a aluminum driveshaft for sure or if you really want get the hardcore fiberglass.

It's good for more then you can throw at it or pretty close. I am using a factory aluminum LS1 shaft on my T/A now and went 9.80's@136mph with it. I also went as fast as 10.17@134mph with my stock steel driveshaft and ported LT1 castings last year. I only swapped for the lighter aluminum one b/c my stock one is still in one piece sitting in my shop. Later Clint

His is a stick shift car and I've seen LS1 aluminum shafts break on 12 second stick cars.

Sorry didn't notice but the steel shaft should still hold up pretty good.
