with a tci 3000 stall 10" converter, flowmaster exhaust but i put a dynomax bullet in place of the muffler, 3.23's, sfc, no cat, stb, moroso cai, and panhardbar????

its got 3000 miles on the motor rebuild and it runs good.

Re: what should i run in the 1/4 mile

My guess is somewhere between 12.5 - 14 Seconds...

More info might be helpful like;
Car details:
  • Stock rebuild?
  • If not what was done?
  • Tires?
  • Weight?
  • Tune?
Track details:
  • Altitude?
  • How sticky is it?
  • Temp?

Without knowing altitude, weather, etc. I can only make a guess of between 13.3 - 14 Seconds @ about 100 - 103 MPH... Just go and find out for yourself

WOW, they actually check your age? The track I have been going to since I was 15 never check my age, what would it hurt to try?

I would be suprised if you did even break the 14s. You are going to be running a pretty high stall TC with Kumhos? Good luck on hooking up as I even have trouble with my 315s. Since you don't have any power mods except your CAI, the way to get the most out of your run is in the start, which is going to be hard.

Pick up at least some Nittos. They aren't bad even if you have to daily drive them.

I'm also from Oklahoma City and Race at Thunder Valley (Noble). The track has "parental consent" forms available that allow you to race at age 16. It is just a matter of having your parents sign it, then it is kept on file at the track. Call Marcia Crook (track mgr) 405-872-3429 and she will help you get set up with the consent form.

Also, I race the Saturday evening/night Thunder Valley bracket series (NO-E Street) and am the only racer there with an LT1, F-Body. !997, Silver Z28, w/ Blue Anv stripes.

Hope to see you at the track.

Re: what should i run in the 1/4 mile

that sucks. at Great lakes dragaway in Union Grove, Wisconsin, i raced my old Z 2 days after i got my liscense.

if you run those Kumho's the car aint gonna do crap. i was only able to pull a 2.2 on street tires in my old Z-28 which got me a 14.1 @99 but with my T/A i only pulled a 2.5 on street tires which got me a 14.4 at 101 consistently. once you go to the track with street tires you wont go back without at least drag radials. im sure if i could pull a 2.0 60' my car would do a 13.6 or so and thats with the mods in my sig. if you can hook up your car you might be able to pull a 13.8 or so id say. like stated get more than a CAI, and you will start bringing in some more power.

I would suggest you work-on educating your parents about the "organized sport of legal drag racing." Even after you turn 18, if they are totally opposed to you drag racing that can cause family problems.

Bring your parents to one of the Thunder Valley Saturday bracket races and give them an overview of what the sport of legal drag racing is all about. It's probably an issue of "fear of the unknown" and miss-association with street racing. Once they see and learn what legal drag racing is all about, they will probably come-around on the issue.

One of my best friends at the track (Darren) is an OKC police man. His two girls race Jr Dragster and he races No-E. We could have Darren talk with your parents.
