Update: SFI T-56 Bellhousing
Update: SFI T-56 Bellhousing
I made a number of calls. The bottom line of what I found out is that we would be talking at least $1,000 to get these made. It has caused me to re-think my plans. I am not so sure the T-56 will be up to what I have in mind anyway. Even with the car in the mid-10's at the local track (where they know me and the tech is lax) they are giving me a hard time. If it's in the nines I think they will start some "real" tech and I'd hate to waste the $2,500 bucks it will cost for a bellhousing, tranny upgrade, and clutch rebuild only to end with a car I can't race
It may be a TH400 for me, or else not make the car any faster!

Are you talking $1,000+ for each one or for a certain size order? I can believe the $1k for each one, when I called ARP to see if they could make some of the 12mm wheel studs in a 3" length instead of 2 1/2" it was going to cost me $680 for 20.
Hey Rich
Here is my opinion if you are open to hearing it
You know how much I respect you and how much i really like/respect what you have done with your car. Personally, I would not do anything more to it. Keep it a street car, keep it a 6spd. I think that you might eventually not be pleased with your decision if you go with the 400/full cage even though the car would be a blast
It would be sweet to see you pick up/build a 4th gen hardtop car with your setup and future plans (more spray, etc..). We always talk about what your setup would do in my car
I just think a 6spd convertible is not the car to go into all that with....especially since you are still at the point of "return" (ie, no cage, fuel system, etc..)...all the stuff that would be tough to reverse. Plus you will always have the handicap of the weight with the convertible.
I think your car rocks the way it is, and i know how much fun you have on the street with it...would hate to see you loose that.
No matter what you decide, i will always probably be your biggest fan
lol

because that's exactly where my thoughts are going. I have come full circle and back to considering a "race" car of some sort. I really think the TH400 + cage might ruin my car as a fun, fast street car. You aren't the only car savvy guy to point this out as my friends Bob and Joe also have tried to protect me from myself! At this point I plan to get the motor out anyway and go from there. But most likely just re-ring it, do bearings, and put it back together after some mild head work. I think once you want to ge nines it would just compromise the car so much as a street machine that it wouldn't be worth it.
Thanks for the advice!
Also, as far as a tranny blanket goes it will not pass tech, AFAIK. As I said before, once you start running nines they really do tech the car (as they should), even at my friendly local track!
