I quess the next obvious question is, where do you have the trans. cooler mounted. One thing that happens when you turn your A/C on is that the rad. fans come on. Maybe the trans. cooler is getting hot air from these fans directed at it??

 

It's located on the passenger side above the air dam in front of the rad. (more or less) It might not be in a position to have the fans draw any air through it.
