Traction

Ive got a 93Z28 with mods in sig, and new bmr suspension. I get traction fine with my mickey tompsons but only from a 5 mph roll. Nothing under that, i get horrible movement to one side or the other. Wondering what could be causing this. Allready had the car alighned. Thanks

Re: Traction

Mickey Thompson whats? ET Streets? ET Street Radials? ET Drags?

At the strip there is no "roll" except for the rollout. I can't believe that at a clean track with clean tires, at your power level you can't hook up.

Re: Traction

I run ET Streets. I use about 14 pounds in them. On a stock vehicle they are basically too much tire. If problem you are referring to is "wandering" it is because you have too luttle air in them and too little power. My suspicion would be that you should have 18-20 pounds in them on a stock powered vehicle.

The tires are not designed for street use. The sidewalls will wrinkle on the launch and will roll off the rims in a corner if you don't take it easy. I know for a fact that they will hydroplane completely at 25 mph in my car on a wet road to the point where the rear will come all the way around, and this is holding a constant speed... Mickey Thompson's web site even says these tires are for racing.

This is the drag racing forum where those of us that enjoy racing do so in a controlled environment at a track. There are too many variables to street race with any sense of safety.

Even folks who take the time to reasonably secure an area don't have the safety equipment in the event of an accident. I have seen too many people hurt or killed because they failed to take proper precautions.

Take it to the track.
