Track times...terrible 60's
Well i just got back from the track for the first time. And before you all roll on the ground laughing lemme tell you that i was at 3500ft, and my car is only shifting at 6200 because i have the stock spark plug wires and im arching over at higher rpms(i think) and it doesn't pull much past 5500 but i dont think there is valve float. Im also on the stock stall and terrible khumo street tires. I also wasn't allowed to run on the normal part of the track, i had to go off on the side so i wouldn't mess it up or something. well heres some of my runs. Also it was my first time at the track.
spun thru first and shifting into second on every run.

O well i guess ill go back when i get some tires and new plug wires and shift it a little higher.

Re: Track times...terrible 60's
Next time you stage, tach it up to 1500 rpm or as much as you can w/o it moving on you.
When the last yellow lights, let off the brake, let the car roll out for just a moment, then roll into the gas.
That's the best way to launch an auto car on street tires. The better way is just to get some drag radials. Drag racing on street tires sucks...

Re: Track times...terrible 60's
Ya that really **** me off that i couldn't catch that stupid turbo honda at the end of the quarter. But he had slicks and was dropping the clutch at 5 or 6 k and he treed me pretty bad. I was way behind him but i was at his door by the end of the quarter.
Even though i did crappy i still had lots of fun.

You have a great cam! (Same as mine - It has lots of potential) Stall and Tires will make it fly. Who did your tune for the new cam? That is a big part of any major upgrade. Also, what altitude is your track at?
As long as you had fun, it doesn't matter that you got beat by a Honda.

Re: Track times...terrible 60's
I was cutting low 2.0's when I was almost stock. I just tached it up to 1800 and then gassed it when the light hit the 2nd yellow. Took a few practices but after I had it down I rarely got about 2.1's. This was on street tires too. For practice I would go to a 1/8 and and try different rpm levels to lauch from. Oh yeah diffently get you a TC like 3500 with those gears.
