Tips On Launching?
Tips On Launching?
Well i have had my car for a few months now and will be taking it to the track Friday. It will be the first time i have ever ran anything. I have an 02 Z28 M6 with stock eagle rubber. Could you guys give me some tips on launching, what rpm is best. Is there any other advice you could give me?
Thanks

First of all, with that tire, NO Burnout!!!!! Avoid water box, as in drive around it. Spin tires just to dust them off.
Now, the fun begins. It will take a few trys to figure out what rpm to launch at... Be patient and pay attention to what is happening. I don't know if I would try a side step of the clutch but I would let it out pretty quick. If it bogs, try a higher rpm the next time. Have fun.

Re: Tips On Launching?
Here is what worked for me. My old car ran very consistent times and pulled 2.0 60ft on RSAs doing this. I lowered my tire pressure to about 20 psi.
Avoid the water box, do a few good dry hops to clean and heat the tires a little.
Rev the engine to about 3,000 rpms, slip the clutch, when you feel the tires bite floor it. 1-2 shift at 5700 rpms since it's easy to hit the rev limiter on that shift. 2-3 and 3-4 shift @6100 rpms.
