Track times and a couple questions...
Track times and a couple questions...
ok FINALLY got to go back to the track tonight.. had alot of fun ran pretty good.. but still not what i expected, worst run of the night was a 12 cause the opti decided to crap out... but oh well it drove home and ran better after it cooled off *shrug* anyway to the point heres the time slip..! (1/8 track)
R/T .642
60 2.123
330 5.883
594 8.406
1/8 8.979
mph 78.65
now the questoins i mentioned.. before the trans was letting me hit the rev limiter.. so no gain in speed during that time, well now its the same problem of no speed gain, but instead its from tires spinning !!! first time down the track scared the crap outta me, had to let off cause it kicked HARD right and about went for the wall.. still ran a 9.1
but anyway what would help with it kicking left or right? sway bar? subframe connectors? what do i need to do to hold it down... sometimes it would stay straight and spin.. but if you were going in a curve at all it would always kick out

Re: Track times and a couple questions...
Traction is often best solved with a good set of drag radials. Even better if you can get shorter rims and taller tires. Shooting towards a wall is never a good thing. I am suprised that your car did that. Basicallym instead of spending a bunch of money on suspension parts that will just add weight to your car you may want to take a look at underneath your ride first. Are the buhings all good? Shocks good? Springs good? You could try adding an air bag to one side (right rear), and see what happens. I have one and run about 18 pounds in it. Is your rear sway bar secure?
A decent set of 15 inch rims and some drag radials should solve your traction problems. Also, it is quite possible that if there was crap on the track on one side and not the other that you could have experienced some one wheel peel that can easily send you to one side or the other. You did the right thing by letting off. It is always better to be safe.

Re: Track times and a couple questions...
the track was pretty clean the first time it kicked out cause i was the second car down the track, it got a little better as the night went on though but the if i was in the right lane the car would ALWAYS kick right.. like it had a thing for the wall
left lane just spin for about 10-20ft but stay straight.. the 60ft surprised me a little bit though for a low profile street tire.
main thing though how are these times compared to other LT1s?

Re: Track times and a couple questions...
I just looked at my timeslip from the 1998 NHRA Bracket Finals in Delmar Delaware... At that time my car had the following mods:
drag radials on stock 16 inch rims, 1 5/8 Edelbrock shortie headers, Moroso Cold Air, Hurst short throw shifter. Everything else was stock.
60' 1.97
330' 5.68
1/8 8.87
80mph
This was a 1/4 mile track so that is all the info I have. No 584 split. Each track and conditions are different so comparison doesn't really mean much except to say that you are "in the ballpark".

Re: Track times and a couple questions...
that might be it, but it seemed to me like their may have been a lean or somethin on the right side of the track cause when i ran in the left lane it always spun both tires and stayed straight and always kicked right when i was in the right lane. *shrug*
and ty for the comparison times tnt if i had that 60' time mine would have been about the same.. but even with 3.73 gears that means im missin somewhere... probly that second gear spin losing a lot =/ oh well ill find out after i get my oil leak fixed and replace the opti
if it doesnt run better after that its time for some DRs and try again
