Timeslip - curious what u think car is capable of - will run again on fri

well went to track and made few passes for first time - and first time i have launched this car since i made got it on the road this summer

im just curious what you think the car is capable of with more practice

heres my best time (im #112)

this was with a 200lb passenger and me spinning into 2nd gear - also wasnt sure where would be best to shift so was shifting at 5200... ohh and my header bolts had backed off on one side so they were leaking..

only mods on the car were SS hood, K&N FIPK, and TB bypass , cars also got 98k and had sat for 2 years prior-

im happy with what i got for a first run considering - im going back fri and going to run alone and work on launching - just curious what u think it could run judging by my timeslip

Shift as high as your computer lets you. 5800 rpm in a stock car. Do that, lose the passenger, get a good (2.0-2.1) 60 foot, and youll be mid-high 13s@101-102

not to mention considering im running 18's with a 40 sidewall...

I'd say you can trap 100-101mph. With traction (2.0 60') I ran a 13.6 with a 101 trap.

Hey kingman what time did you stay at the track until? I was there all night till around 11 when they kicked us out. I dont remember seeing you there... I was racing my red 95 Z28. Too bad it rained this friday, i was looking forward to coming up there again. Next friday (the 24th) its closed for the world bracket finals. Do you know if you will be up there on the 1st? Hope to see you around... -Jeff

hey - ya i saw you there - and yup i was planning on going last fri but of course around here it rained-

yup i was there till 11 - i did my last run about 1/4 of then was waiting for my friend in his lightning to finish before we left ( he was the red lightning with the ghost flame job running low 13's)

anyway ill definately be there on the 1st- ive been working out a lot of bugs in the car - if you look in my sig you will see car was a totaled car i decided to rebuild - last week was first chance to run her and see how she is running - it was also my first time ever at a dragstrip racing and first time really trying to launch an standard with any ***** at all -

anyway i since did a tune up and found that my fuel filter clogged up again ( car sat for 2 years so i changed fuel filter, guess the new one got the rest of junk in my gas tank) running much better, and i checked my header bolts to find 5 of them had backed off a good 3/16" and my headers were leaking pretty bad- also found one of my plug wires was cracked and arching off the block so im installing my Taylor OVC kit this weekend..

soooo.... im hoping with these and by dropping the passenger and getting a cutout installed ill be pulling mid 13's with a good launch. so hopefully this means i have car running as it should...

ohh by the way - if im running 13's i need a helmet there right? i didnt ask but i know my buddy got a lot of **** for his lightning for not having a helmet and thats why he was keeping it out of 12's he was letting off at the end of the track...

but ya my AIM name is kingman109 - IM me and we'll meet up or something -

If it clogged up from sitting up, there could be rust in your tank. Some may have bypassed yhe filter also. You may want to pull the injectors and check the screens in them for rust.

Ok. How much did the frame straightening cost? Thinking about doing it to mine before I put on the sfc.

this is how it looked

cost 400ish i wanna say to have all cut out and new pieces re-welded off a clip i provided and a new radiator support they bought- they then put on frame straightner and made everything perfect -

but they cut me really good deals cause i help them with other things

I am assuming that included the welding labor as well. Mine isn't wrecked but is showing signs of a bit of twist.
