Taking my Z28 to the track for the first time

On Saturday, at M10, I'll be drag racing my Z28 for the first time.

I've previously raced two other cars, but both were automatics. This is my first time racing with a stickshift.

My car is mostly stock (lid & catback). 245/50ZR16 tires (BFG KDWS) with at least 50% tread left.

I can get a pretty good launch on the street, but until I see my 60' times, I really have no idea how well I'm doing.

So, I'm sure there are lots of people here with firsthand experience launching a 6-speed LS1 on decent street tires. Let's hear your advice! What's a good launching RPM? Should I screw with my tire pressure? What else do I need to know?

There will be five hours of test & tune, so I'm hoping to get plenty of runs. I'd just like to go in already knowing a few things.

Thanks!

I like to side step the clutch when launching on street tires. I know it burns it up faster but it gets you out of the hole alittle quicker and keeps ya from spinning. Oh and dont worry about trying to shift to fast on the first few runs it will just make you mess up worse, lol take your time.
