Sub 11.99 rules?

Where can I find a list of rules for what my car would need if it ran under 12?

I searched google but kept coming up with club rules.

Thanks,
Sean

The IHRA rulebook (very similar to NHRA) can be purchased direct from their website for $10.

You should buy a rulebook for the sanctioned track you race at. Also, call the track and find out about any special rules they may have in addition. Basically 11.99 at NHRA translates to 11.49 at IHRA in terms of a cutoff number.

NHRA.com has a basic faq's that will give you a heads up as to what is needed.
For a quicky rundown of stuff,you need a 5pt rollbar,5pt harness,firejacket,helmet,and long wheel studs.

This is just a basic idea.

That page is basiclly all you need but it's not quite complete.

If you're already in the 12's then you have the basics such as helmet, driveshaft loop etc.

Extra stuff required to run into the 11's is:

Roll bar. Minimum 5 point but everyone installs the passenger side door bar for a 6 point.
5 point harness. Date coded and only good for 2 years from date of manufacture. They can be re-webbed but check with the manufacturer first. Sometimes it's just cheaper to buy new belts every 2 years. Sell the old belts to a stock car driver.
Single layer fire jacket
All tubeless tires must have metal screw in valve stems.

Anything else you add isn't required yet at this ET but is good insurance.
SFI flywheel/flexplate, SFI balancer, tranny shield.

At 10.99 an SFI tranny shield and balancer is manditory. Aftermarket axles are also manditory at this ET. There is nothing in the rulebook saying you have to have long wheel studs. The stud length depends on the style of rims you use. "The stud must protrude into the hex portion of the nut equal to the diameter of the stud". If you used 1/2" wheel studs the at least 1/2" of the stud must be above the face of the wheel. Rims like Drag Lites need long studs because of the design of the center of the rim.
