stock shortblock goes 10.24!

My buddy took out his car on Sunday. The daily driven vette stoped the clock at 10.24 @ 126 MPH.

This combination features the stock shortblock, Canfield heads, a very small "Hot Cam" like hydraulic flat tappet cam, and nitrous.

This car is a torque monster; it dynoed at over 600 ft lbs torque. It makes so much power the glass top was ripped from the car at the 1/8 mile mark and went 30 feet into the air. When he got back we noticed the right rear quarter panel paint was bubbled from the body twist. How's that for torque?

Hopefully we'll get some pictures and the video going soon.

It's an all stock suspension/chassis.

It went 1.46 or 1.43 on the 60'.

There's not going to be a chassis install, it's a low budget street car.

better get some subframes or something on that car before the hatch wont' close anymore. May already be too late. He is going to be seeing a frame machine here shortly unless he does something.

It's my car.,the whole point is to show how fast something can go on stock parts if built for TQ. You guys missed that point. Small cam, small heads, dual plane intake and a vac secondary car with the choke still hooked up. All through a paper autozone 4" filter. The engine is 355 CID, i shift it at 5K on spray, 3.07 gears.

It's a full frame car..no need for frame connectors. The suspension is all stock with 135K miles on it.

1.46 60' 6.5 1/8 @ 105 MPH.

We see so many guys just spend alot of money and are never satisfied with their times, just thought we would share a well thoughout combo and not a expensive deal. I have $7500 in the whole car, including purchase price.

good luck to you guys this summer.

Re: stock shortblock goes 10.24!

So we are talking a C3 here then...cool..I have a 76 myself.

A few questions. How is it a stock shortblock as stated in the orig. post but you say its a 355. you guys change the pistons only? How much juice you running through that thing. Done anything to that rear yet because those 1.4s will shatter something sooner or later in the stock setup.

congrats..while Nitrous is a torque monster its great for HP also.

Re: stock shortblock goes 10.24!

actually it's a c-4 1985. which came stock with forged pistons. On the rebuild i bored it .030 and used claimer hyperutectic pistons. I believe they were $100 for the set. I reused the stock 2 bolt block, stock rods with ARP bolts and the stock cast crank. The rear is the stock D-36 with the stock 3.07 gears...it should have fell out of the car a long time ago ??why fix what isn't broken ?

let me share the dyno #'s with you

motor
292 RWHP @ 5900 421 TQ @ 2100

150 shot
380 RWHP @5900 600 LBS tQ @ 3200

200 shot

never dynoed it

why does it live ? Don't detonate it and don't over rev it. simple. 112 Octane 28 deg total timing on the spray

do you race the c-3 ?

Re: stock shortblock goes 10.24!

I have..went 11.86 at 114 on a 355 all motor. Going through a restoration now making it more of a street car. Getting rid of the th350 and puting a t-56 in it. Lowering it(mono front spring to get rid of coils) and running 17" rims on it. Putting offset trailing arms/shortened rear leaf to get som 17x9.5 with 285/45-17s to tuck in nice. Sidepipes, new interior, new paint, basically replacing everything on the car with new stuff and putitng a hot rod Air A/C system on it. Gonna make it a nice driver and not so much worried about track times anymore. I have my formula for that.

Sounds like you have a nice setup. My formula is runing 2 bolt mains also with stock crank and its its live so far and made 506 rwhp and 557 rwtq(window switch set at 4500 so torque numbers could be higher) on a 75 shot..which is no longer on the car.

good luck with your setup..but I would do something to stop the twisting. Plus your giving up et by letting the frame take all that power...put it to the pavement not to the frame.
