shift point

I went to the track on saturday night and got a new best of 13.605@106.39 with a 2.29 60'. The mods are in my sig. I was wondering what you all would shift the car at, and how you would launch it, in your best opinion. I have 17 inch wheels and Kuhmo street tires. I was shifting right around six grand, some right before and some right after. I was also wondering if I should shift to fourth or run it out in third. The RPM's go past 6000 if i push it throught third. I'm trying to get to a lower 13 second quarter before the season is over. I might have drag radials next time, but I doubt it. Thanks.

Re: shift point

Personally?? I'd milk each gear for all they're worth, and DEFINITELY run it out in 3rd gear ... don't waste any more time shifting into 4th right before the line (not unless it's actually pinging off the rev limiter, of course).

Your trap speed looks good, and even your 1/4 time isn't bad, but you need to work on the 60'. How much are you spinning off the line? Knock ~2 tenths off that 60' and you'll be cutting ~13.2's - 13.4's .

.....I just noticed, you've got LT's on the car?? You definitely need to improve that launch!! And I'd say shift around ~6000 - 6200 (right before the rev limiter). With the additional power of LT's, you should be cutting closer to 13.0's around ~108-109 IMO.

Re: shift point

With my T/A the rev limiter was 6190 and I shifted at 6100.

Re: shift point

The LS1 rev-limiter is 100 or 200 RPM higher than the LT1 afaik. But, they also (typically) run a couple/few MPH faster than LT1's. But you already know that!!
