Removing front and back bumper supports on a T/A?

Anybody have a page that has directions or have done it and can give me some tips. I am going to try and lighten up my 3650-3700lb beast so i can get to running better times. I am also going to put light weight battery, racing seat for track use and remove front swaybar. Then later on I will probably do a K-member. I want to whip some serious LS1's and I have a couple pesky Mudstains and one 1st gen Camaro picking on my dailydriver. The bad part is they are only running a couple tenths faster than me and weigh a good 4-500lbs lighter They are going to be in for a rude awakening. I beat them already with N2o but they have since added n2o kits too

Why would you ever want to remove rear weight in any of these already nose heavy cars? There are a bunch of better areas to pull weight out of these cars before taking it out of the very back. Manual steering, removal of frt sway bar, heater/ac box, etc are easy areas to free up wt. I'd look at areas forward of the rear axle first.

Thats why I want to pull the front bumper support. Payam I was told like 35lbs for the front support and 25 lbs for the rear. I am definately doing w/o my A/C in these hot summers in Louisiana so that's out of the question.

Rear one is quite easy.
-First pull out the rear brake lights
-take the carpet for the hatch area is out so you can see all the bolts on the piece that goes above the bumper (has to come off.)
- there is some pull pin things (plastic that are on the top of the bumper, then some nuts behind the spare tire and on the other side as well think there was 4 total.

Take off the bumper support by removing the 4 nuts that hold it to the car i would support it so it doesn't drop on you when wrenching.

Replace pieces when have off rear skin.

I just weighed the crash protection out of my 95 camaro and it weighed in at 18# Only reason i removed this was to install my chromoly parachute mount.

The front is very similar.

-undo the light harness from the blinkers on either side
-remove the plastic pieces from under the bumper in front of either wheel like 10 screws
-remove 4 bolts (i believe 4) from the sides of the bumper
-3 plastic pins from bottom of the crash protection piece
-remove pieces that clip into the top think 4 clips
-remove 4 bolts holding crash protection.
Re-install.

I am making a support for the bumper in the front of my car for the bumper so as it does not crush inward basically it will be a bolt in chromoly piece with some arms with pads like BMR's piece that they will not reproduce. I have not pulled mine out yet as I need to make my bracing up first. At high speeds the bumper is going to do some funny things without support.

Hope it all goes smooth

Steven
